Q: Why is my breaker tripping?

A breaker trips or shuts off to protect the circuit from overheating and causing damage or an electrical fire. Before you go and reset the breaker, take a moment to determine what the root cause is of the tripping. Common causes are loose connections, ground fault/ short circuit, overloaded circuit.
